Forget~me~knot ….a celebration of life box
I wanted to show you our new, original idea for funeral tributes, our beautiful wooden box has been created to be filled with seasonal plants and foliage, the base is removable, by just sliding it out, so that it can then be added to your garden or at the cemetery, keeping the surround, with your personalised message as a lasting tribute to your loved one.
For me, it is an absolute honour to be a small part of a celebration of life, creating arrangements that are so bespoke to the person who has passed away, when our Dad died, I created his tribute, it was time I had on my own, trying to comprehend the enormity of loosing such an incredible man, we all positioned flowers in the arrangement, all within our own reflective thoughts, this made me really think how important the flowers are at someones funeral, they aren’t just a pretty thing to have, they are the last thing we can really do for the person we love and wouldn’t it be so special to be able to keep them and so during lockdown the idea just came to me, I think my Dad was watching over me..
During this awful time all of our weddings were postponed or some making the heartbreaking decision to cancel, I started making facemasks, it seems like such a long time ago now, but I remember vividly the idea of using plants for funerals, using a wooden structure and how it can be kept, rather then yet another arrangement with floristry foam going into landfill, the use of floristry foam doesn’t sit well with me at all, so I stopped creating funeral flowers, I am now, using moss and wire or moss and twine as a natural compostible base, but I still kept thinking there must be an alternative and so the celebration of life box was born… KC xx

You can never do things on your own ~
Whenever I talk about flowers in a jar, I always say we, because it is… because, you can’t possibly do things on your own, when I first started our business, my son was only 2 years old, so when I went to Covent Garden flower market at 3 am, my Dad would come and stay over to look after Jamie, it wouldn’t be possible to do it without his support, my sister, helped with all the computer bits, as she is so much better then me… so fast forward almost 20 years.. now Jamie helps me, which is so wonderful… every single moment has been we…
So, I would like to introduce one of the team, my Mum…Maggie… I really couldn’t do life without her, let alone any flowers.. where do I even begin, the list is endless, Mum helps with all the prep, the cleaning of the stems, especially asparagus fern (which really isn’t my favourite) the clearing up, the making breakfast, lunch and dinner, popping the kettle on when we are flagging, working through the night with me on a church arch, coming to all the fantastic venues, more tea, more clearing up… plus she keeps all our accounts in order, she is so amazing, as they say, not all heroes wear capes, some wear aprons with flowers in a jar written on them…love you Mum xxKC
